About me: I have played rugby at houghton since i can remember. I played at junior leval, then went onto playing 16/17 colts leval. I got thrown into 2nds rugby at the age of 17 and had to lurn and grow up very fast. In 2004 i got a weekend job whilst at uni so had to give up rugby. I finally quit that job in december 2007 and returned to play for Houghton.

This season: I think Houghton have the ability to stay up this season!

The Future: I am just going to keep working hard and wont leave the club that taught me how to play!!!!

Got my boy playing tag on a Sunday, Got my level 1 coaching so i'll be coaching Houghton's future stars (god help them & the club).Broke another bone in my left leg, second time in a year, so I'm joining the sideline team and help out in any way I can.

Comment:
It has been such a roller coaster ride at Houghton for me.  When I was at junior level Houghton was one of the best teams in the county and in one season we only lost one game i think.  At the age of 16/17 colts level we lost most games for two seasons resulting in the team disbanding and some of the hardcore players joining the senior teams, a time to grow up and under go charactor building.  I have spent most of my time in the second team with a few games here and there for the first team in division 1 and 2.

Season 08/09 for me is going to be a good one.  I will have the time to commit myself to training for the whole week and hopefully try and hold on to a starting position in the first team.

Richie 'Dutton' Dutton

Age: 24

Position: Flanker

Rugby History: Started at Northern (aged 10), Northumberland U15/16/17, Gosforth (Colts), Lancaster University, Vale of Lune, Houghton (this will be my 4th year at the club).

Best Houghton moment: Scoring a try vs Novos near the end of last season. (That or scoring a crucial last minute drop goal at home mid-season, right in front of the clubhouse).

Worst Houghton moment: Discovering that I had dreamt the aforementioned drop goal and in fact my effort dribbled misrably along the floor for a 22 dropout, much to everyone's annoyance. (Hard to think of any time at the club that has really sucked, but I can't say I've enjoyed losing to the legends 2 years in a row either!)

Looking forward to next season already!
